The till is rarely empty. It is often spoken for.
A grocery on a market street can take plenty on a Friday and still fail to meet the rice supplier on Monday, because wages, the stall fee, and the oil invoice chose the same morning. The owner feels the shortage as a verdict on the shop. On paper it is a clash of dates.
We write those dates down for owner-run counters: groceries, food stalls, tailors, fishing-supply shops, and rubber smallholdings in the province. The work is a cash position, prepared in sittings, left with you on paper. Daily books, tax returns, and loan files stay with the people who already keep them.

Any week whose closing cash sits under that floor is marked, while there is still time to move a delivery or ask a regular customer early.
